The PumpSaver and the AutoRice. Put them together in the lab, and you have yourself the Dynamic Duo of testing equipment.
Looking to add the Duo to your lab? Let’s take a look at each product in detail.
The AutoRice Controller
The AutoRice automates the entire Maximum Specific Gravity testing. It's a controller that'll turn everything on for your rice test, and then run the entire test without you having to adjust any valves, check the pressure, or check the timer. It’s all done for you with the press of a button.
After testing is complete, the AutoRice shuts everything down. You can then retrieve some information from that test through a USB port located at the back. One thing that the AutoRice brings to the table is being able to bring it down to 27 and a half millimeters mercury quickly and hold for that 15-minute dwell time.
Then, you can move right into the other test with somebody else at another station.
The PumpSaver
The PumpSaver was actually a product we had hidden in another product called the CoreDry for many years. Then, we decided to make the pump its own product and turn it into a desiccant system that's electronic–no more changing out Drierite, buying Drierite, or drying Drierite.
All of that takes time, and a lot of labs forget to dry it out. They end up having moisture going straight through the Drierite right into the vacuum pump. After a few years, they end up with a bad pump (and no one wants a bad pump).
To get started with the Dynamic Duo, plug in the shaker table with your pycnometer, and hook it all up (it takes about 15-20 minutes). Make sure you have your clamp down with all the host connections, because it is a vacuum system.
The PumpSaver and AutoRice are probably the most popular products at InstroTek, we see them in labs everywhere now. They’ve become the standard due to the repeatability and test accuracy according to the AASHTO spec.
